Cottagers can get themselves into some tricky situations. Here's what to do when things go wrong!

When an unfortunate encounter with a porcupine happens, don't cut the end of the quill off. Instead, cut it lengthwise and use pliers to remove it. 

If you or your dog get skunked, there are a few things you should do. First, flush out eyes with saline or water. 

Cottage Life said, "Use a peroxide–baking soda mixture: combine 1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide; 1/4 cup baking soda; and 1 to 2 tsp liquid soap, shampoo, or dish detergent."

Lather and rinse!
