There's a shortage on road salt, but it might actually be a positive. Cottage Life reported, "It may turn out that a supply problem is the tough love we need, to cut back on the estimated five million tonnes of salt that Canadians dump on roads, driveways, and parking lots every year. " There are negative environmental impacts of road salt, especially to freshwater lakes. There are alternatives you can try at home! Sand, gravel, commercial volcanic stone, and even coffee grounds could help melt that snow and ice.
