Date: 10/23/2015
Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue encourages everyone to have their wood-burning appliance inspected and serviced by a W.E.T.T. certified technician or chimney sweep annually. The fire service offers the following tips:
  • Operate wood-burning appliances properly
  • Use dampers and understand how they operate specific to your appliance
  • Recognize proper operating temperatures for your appliance
  • Be cautious when removing ashes
  • Schedule regular cleaning and maintenance
  • Monitor chimneys for creosote buildup
