We have a new police chief in Kawartha Lakes! MyKawartha reported, "On Thursday, Aug. 30. Mayor Andy Letham, police services board chair Don Thomas and many more came to watch retiring chief John Hagarty officially 'pass the torch' to the new chief, Mark Mitchell." Tears, laughter and memories mark Change of Command ceremony for Kawartha Lakes police

Tears, laughter and fond memories showed the closeness that exists in the Kawartha Lakes Police Service as the force said goodbye to one chief and welcomed another. Hundreds of officers and other emergency responders, family, friends, dignitaries and business people came to the Victoria Park Armouries for the official change of command ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 30. Mayor Andy Letham, police services board chair Don Thomas and many more came to watch retiring chief John Hagarty officially 'pass the torch' to the new chief, Mark Mitchell.
