Photographing the elusive mink

Wildlife photographer Dave Ellis wrote about photographing minks for MyKawartha.com. He said, "I think I have more pictures of their tail ends as they dart behind cover more than any other animal. It seems you are always one step behind them with the camera." He suggests looking near the shore where there are dead logs. You need to be quick if you want to snap a picture of these adorable animals!

The mink, properly called the American mink, is one of the cutest animals in our area. It is always a treat to see a mink in the wild. They are very fast, elusive little creatures. I think I have more pictures of their tail ends as they dart behind cover more than any other animal. It seems you are always one step behind them with the camera. Every once in a while you catch one, though, if you watch closely and are ready. Famous for their rich fur, and their voracious appetite for farm fowl, it is a wonder there...
