Injured wildlife may soon have assistance in the Kawarthas

There may soon be assistance for injured wildlife in the Kawarthas. Veterinary technician Olivia Vandersanden is building her dream of opening a wildlife rehabilitation center, and she is already licensed to care for coyotes, bears and foxes. “Vandersanden says she’s received her licence from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry for the Kawartha Wildlife Centre, which is incorporated as a non-profit that’s still awaiting its charitable status.” Four local veterinarians have agreed to provide medical services for the animals at the center, which she hopes will be north of Peterborough. If you are interested in helping this project get off the ground, email oliviamarievandersanden@gmail.com or donate to their GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/help-kawartha-wildlife.

Plan to open wildlife rehabilitation centre in Kawarthas takes flight

PETERBOROUGH —  From helping orangutans in the rainforests of Borneo to offering care for local pets, Olivia Vandersanden is tapping into her passion for animals as she embarks on a new adventure. The licensed veterinary technician is planning to open a wildlife rehabilitation centre in the Kawarthas to help injured Ontario animals before releasing them back into the wild. The project is in its infancy stage and Vandersanden is hoping people back the idea by donating to help get the centre off the ground.
