Renting a cottage in the winter

Date: 09/19/2018 | Source: http://www.thestar.com

Do you think you can only rent your cottage out in the summer? Guess again! Some families love to escape the city in the winter. If you aren't using your cottage over the holidays, try booking some renters! Make sure they have specific winter instructions on how to get to your cottage, especially if there are lesser-used back roads. This would also involve getting all the utilities turned back on. It's a good idea to crank the heat back up a day or two before your renters arrive so it's nice and toasty! As The Star said, "There’s nothing quite as blissful as a trip to cottage country — no matter what time of year." So get renting!

How to save money on a winter cottage rental

People often think that renting via big listing sites such as Airbnb and CanadaStays is the best way to find a deal - but Bayer says a traveller fee of 8 to 12 per cent is typically tacked on to your rental fee. To avoid this, consider booking directly with the owners or through a registered rental agency site.
