Pollinators rejoice! The City of Kawartha Lakes recently joined forces with Bee City Canada, declaring to “protect pollinators and their habitat through action and education.” Joining Ontario cities Toronto and Stratford, Kawartha Lakes became the seventh Canadian and third Ontario municipality to be designated a “Bee City.” This means the city has a responsibility to put forth effort in raising community awareness of the important role bees play in the environment, with the goal of physical support for pollinators through public and private land grants.
