Lake plan to key in on water quality for Kawartha Lakes region

Recognizing the importance of local waterways to this area’s environment and economic future, Kawartha Lakes council threw its support behind a Kawartha Conservation lake management plan designed to maintain the quality of lake water for years to come. The plan, presented to council on June 19 by Kawartha Conservation chief administrative officer Mark Majchrowski, follows through on a mandate to create a multi-year strategy identifying programs, leads, success measures, and costs, he said. Majchrowski said implementing the plan would mean open beaches in the summer, an increased recreational base, and improved drinking water quality.
