The family’s iconic Rockcliffe home was designed in 1902 by prominent architect Allan Keefer (1883-1952), who also designed Stornoway, the residence of the leader of the Opposition. Cloverdale Cottage has enjoyed plenty of eclectic owners, including noted poet Arthur Bourinot, who won the 1939 Governor General Literary Award for Poetry. The history of the home is also featured in local author Martha Edmond’s book, Rockcliffe Park: A History of the Village, which covers 200 years from 1799 to the village’s amalgamation into Ottawa in 2001.
