Update on the loose elk

A few weeks ago we reported on the elk that was roaming the Lindsay area. MyKawartha reported that the elk was shot by local officials, despite their claims that they planned to tranquilize it. The official statement said, "This is not the outcome that anyone wanted. Dispatching an animal is always a difficult decision. I assure you that all options to save the elk’s life were considered and that euthanizing wild animals is always a last resort." They also said that the elk was moving closer to a wild population and could have compromised the wild herd's health.
