Local businesses adjust to new minimum wage

It is now 2018 and Ontario's minimum wage is $14 per hour. That is a big increase from the previous minimum wage of $11.60 per hour. For businesses like Handley Lumber that are already paying all their employees more than that, there is little impact. In the summer, however, they will likely hire less student/part time help. "We normally have three or four students in the summer. It doesn't make sense to pay a student with no experience that much so we won't have more than three and perhaps only two."
