The burn bans put into effect earlier this month have now been lifted - but what does that mean? Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue chief Mark Pankhurst told Global News, "Fires can be no larger than 60 centimeters by 60 centimeters and must be supervised at all times. We are encouraging burning activities to be limited to evening campfires at this time." As always, continue to be safe, careful, and triple check that all fires are fully extinguished.

The cooler and wetter weather of late has prompted officials to lift fire bans in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton County, Northumberland County, Trent Lakes, Brighton and Havelock-Belmont Methuen Township. The municipalities lifted the bans on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
