Award named in honor of local woman

Kawartha Lakes Food Source has a new annual award, named after superstar 16-year volunteer Barbara Truax. "This year’s (and the first ever) recipient of this award is Shannon Kuypers. She has been a member of the KLFS fundraising committee for almost four years. According to Kirby, Kuypers has helped raise over $45,000 for the food source and puts in over 100 volunteer hours per year." Congrats, Barbara and Shannon! Thanks for being a part of why our community is so wonderful!

Award named after long-time Kawartha Lakes Food Source volunteer

Kawartha Lakes Food Source is honouring a long-time volunteer by creating an award in her honour. Heather Kirby, KLFS general manager, said the Barbara Truax Volunteer Award was created as tribute to Truax’s continued support of the organization. “Barbara Truax has been a driving force behind many fundraising efforts and organizations for many, many years,” Kirby wrote in a recent media release. “She truly exemplifies a community champion – KLFS was honoured that Barbara choose to share her time for 16 years.”
