Residents should be cautious about allowing strangers access to their homes and cottages and should scrutinize any photo identification carefully. City staff members carry identification that features the city logo. Also, check for City of Kawartha Lakes vehicles parked nearby to confirm the person is representing the city. When in doubt, please contact the City of Kawartha Lakes water and wastewater division. Periodically, the City of Kawartha Lakes conducts lead sampling at private residences. When the city conducts lead testing, it posts information about the lead testing on its website. The city is not currently undertaking any lead testing within the City of Kawartha Lakes. The City of Kawartha Lakes provides safe drinking water to areas serviced by municipal water. The water supply meets all requirements as set out by the Safe Drinking Water Act, and Ontario Regulation 169/03 which sets limits for microbiological, chemical, and radiological standards. You can find all water quality data for any City of Kawartha Lakes municipal drinking water system on the city’s website: www.city.kawarthalakes.on.ca. For details, please contact: Amber Hayter, supervisor, environmental services 705-324-9411 ext. 1120 achayter@city.kawarthalakes.on.ca
