What: Driftwood Theatre presents a modern interpretation of the Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare. Every summer, the Toronto-based company takes Shakespeare on the road as part of its “Bard’s Bus Tour,” and Kawartha Settlers’ Village is one of the stops

The Hayloft is a venue at Gamiing Nature Centre where just two years ago hay was stored. Where: Gazebo at Lock 32 (1 Bolton Street in Bobcaygeon)

More about the Fundraiser: Ford dealerships and community organizations have partnered since 2012 to generate $20 donations per valid test-drive, up to $6,000. Food banks, hospitals, and animal shelters are just a few of the groups that have benefited from this community fundraiser

Coboconk’s Annual Duck Derby

What: For this annual fundraiser, 2,000 yellow ducks are dumped over the dam at Highway 35 and the Gull River in Coboconk. The first five ducks to cross the finish line are collected immediately and win prizes for the ticket holders

When: Sunday, July 31, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.

Where: The dam at Highway 35 and the Gull River in Coboconk

Tickets: Tickets are available, but are selling quickly in most Coboconk and surrounding retail stores or from any Lions Club member. Tickets are $5.00 each or three for $10.00. You can also purchase tickets at the Kawartha Lakes United Way office at 50 Mary Street West in Lindsay

More about the Duck Derby: The first five ducks to cross the finish line will win prizes for the ticket holders as follows: first place wins $1,000; second place wins $500; third place, $250; fourth place, $100, and fifth place wins a $50 prize. The Duck Derby is a joint fundraiser for the Coboconk Lions Club and the Kawartha Lakes United Way

Lions Club Concert in the Park - Seabreeze

What: The Lions Club presents a holiday weekend concert with Seabreeze in the park ampitheatre

When: Sunday, July 31, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (following the Coboconk Duck Derby)

Where: The park ampitheatre at Lions Park in Coboconk

More about the Concert: Seabreeze, a Newfoundland-rooted band, plays a variety of country songs, some old-time rock music, and east coast and Irish tunes. The concert is free. After the concert, there will be free hot dogs and drinks
